Bookkeepers, also known as an accounting clerk, is someone who keeps records of the day-to-day financial transactions of an organization. A bookkeeper posts details of transactions, totals accounts, computes interest charges; monitors loans and accounts to ensure that payments are up to date; totals, balances and reconciles billing vouchers; and ensures completeness and accuracy of data on accounts. Bookkeepers primarily perform clerical work, including repetitive record keeping or tabulating of data, and thus are non-exempt and entitled to overtime.
