Maintenance Worker Entitled to Overtime

A maintenance worker performs various tasks related to the upkeep of equipment and/or property. Workers who primarily perform such work are non-exempt and entitled to overtime. Some maintenance workers, such as machinery maintenance workers or industrial machinery mechanics, are employed in manufacturing, industrial equipment dealers and repair shops. Machinery maintenance workers are employees responsible for cleaning and lubricating machinery, performing basic diagnostic tests, checking performance, and testing damaged machine parts to determine whether major repairs are necessary. Industrial machinery mechanics are highly skilled workers who maintain and repair machinery in a plant or factory.
