Production Line Workers duties vary depending on the industry in which the employee works but workers who mostly perform work involving repetitive operations with their hands, physical skill are non-exempt. The exemptions in FLSA do not apply to manual laborers or other "blue-collar" workers. Blue collar workers would include production line workers who perform repetitive operations with their hands, physical skill and energy, and as a result gain the skills and knowledge required for performance of their work through apprenticeships and/or on-the-job training.
